May Serve Trip
This May, 17 students and two leaders will travel to Romania in Eastern Europe for a month of service and evangelism as part of the university's May Serve Program. George Fox sent two teams to Romania in May and June of 2002 and wanted to continue to build upon the relationships that were established that summer by taking another team this year.
The team will fly into Timisoara, Romania, on May 3 and jump right into ministry by working at an aviation camp and a home for unwed mothers the first four days. The guys on the team will teach the 20 to 30 youths at the camp initiative/team- building skills, while the ladies on the team will work at the home for unwed mothers, building relationships with the girls and helping with some work projects.
The second week, the team will be in two groups again. One group will work on digging a well for a village that currently does not have water available close to them. The other group will help with construction of a new church building.
The third week, the team will work with Heart of Hope Ministries in Sibiu (www.heartofhope.org). For three days, the team will begin the renovation process of a house into a ministry center, doing painting inside and complete landscaping outside. For four days, the team will be out at a camp repainting the cabins and doing other various work projects. The camp is a highlight for the kids in the orphanages who look forward to their week at camp every summer.
The last week, the team will be teaching English in a school through a church in Sibiu. The group will use creative games, drama, crafts, and testimonies to teach English to village kids in the school. The team will return to Timisoara for a couple days of debriefing before returning to the U.S. on May 31.
The team is currently meeting weekly for prayer, planning, and implementing of fund-raising activities. For more information or to find out ways you can support the team, please contact Andrea Crenshaw at 503-554-2323 or e-mail her at acrensha@georgefox.edu.
