Parent Council

A Note from the Parent Council

It's difficult to believe that our students are six weeks into the fall semester at George Fox. I trust your son or daughter has adjusted to life at Fox and is experiencing success in the classroom and life on campus. I am sure there is a lot of late-night, last-minute homework going on, but students always find time for socializing.

My message to you this month is to encourage your involvement at George Fox! The Parents Council will be meeting on Oct. 1. One of our primary responsibilities is to plan events for parents that allow them to get involved in the campus community. The first big event is Family Weekend on November 4-6. I encourage you to view the schedule for the weekend on the George Fox website at www.georgefox.edu/parents/events/family_weekend. From this site, you can register online if you plan to purchase tickets to the various meals and activities. I want to highlight some of my favorite events:

· Attend the Fox Hunt Saturday morning as a family: Get to know the campus better and win prizes.
· Attend faculty lectures: See how George Fox faculty teaches both subject matter and biblical truth.
· Attend the Saturday lunch: See how good the college food really is and hear from President David Brandt and George Fox students.
· Attend a concert: You have two to choose from - a jazz concert on Friday night and a choral and symphony concert on Saturday.
· Attend our wonderful Sunday morning chapel service and hear our new campus pastor, Sarah Baldwin

As you can see, it will be a full weekend. Best of all, you will get to spend some time with your sons or daughters, pray with them, experience the college scene with them, and see the blessings they receive by being at George Fox University.

I hope to see you on Family Weekend!
