George Fox University is sending two teams of 15 students and two staff leaders to the Hurricane Katrina region during spring break, March 24 - April 1. In partnership with Campus Crusade for Christ and Habitat for Humanity, these teams will work with skilled contractors, doing everything from clean-up work to the rebuilding of buildings and homes and the construction of new homes for low-income families. The George Fox teams will join with as many as 500 college students from around the country to make a major impact and demonstrate the love of Christ to those most profoundly affected by the hurricane.
Sitting in the comfort and safety of my home, it's difficult to visualize the pain and suffering endured in the wake of such destruction. Seeing the images of people and how their lives and homes were demolished reminded me of God's calling for us to be his hands and feet in the world. The Gulf States serve teams need to raise approximately $24,000 prior to leaving on March 24. The Parent Council is seeking your support for this worthy outreach ministry, and recently sent you a letter of request. Would you prayerfully consider making a gift to help fund these student serve trips? For more information about this ministry trip, see http://relief.campuscrusadeforchrist.com/springbreak.html
On behalf of the George Fox University Parent Council, thank you for your prayers and thoughtful consideration.
Dan Strandy
Parent Council, Chair-Elect
