Robert Buckler is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles. He received an MPH from Johns Hopkins University, an MD from Georgetown University, and completed internship and psychiatry residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center,Washington, D.C. For a number of years, Buckler was medical director of an inpatient Christian therapy program. Licensed to practice in the state of Oregon, he is a certified correctional health professional and board-certified psychiatrist, with board-certified subspecialties in addiction and forensic psychiatry. A Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Buckler is a consulting psychiatrist for a Correctional Health facilities. He also serves as Medical Director for Cedar Hills Hospital in Portland, Oregon..
Primary research interests include medical psychology, community mental health, epidemiology, religious variables and mental health, and the organization, administration, and delivery of mental health services in correctional settings.
Dr. Buckler's hobbies include listening to music, singing, talking with international students or visitors, and fixing "things" (like an old church). He also enjoys visiting antique and secondhand stores as well as browsing through book stores with used book stores being his favorite.
