Director of the Friends Center
I did my undergrad work at George Fox College in Christian ministries with a minor in psychology. I received an MA in Christian history and thought from Western Evangelical Seminary, now Portland Seminary.
Expertise and Experience
My passions include pastoring, teaching and developing leaders. I am currently in my 15yh year as the senior pastor of West Chehalem Friends Church (westchehalemfriends.org) in Newberg, Oregon. I have previously served Friends churches in Oregon as a senior pastor in Salem and as a youth pastor in Silverton and Milwaukie, giving me nearly 30 years of pastoral experience.
In addition to my pastoral role, I serve as the director of the Friends Center for Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends working with Friends students at Portland Seminary. I also teach as an adjunct professor at George Fox/Portland Seminary in courses on Friends history, Bible and preaching. I am the clerk of the subcommittee for ministerial recording of the Board of Leadership Development and Enrichment for Northwest Friends and serve on the advisory board of Faith In Action in Newberg and the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast planning committee in Newberg.
I love time with my family! My wife Nancy is an independent sales director with Mary Kay and a gifted minister. My sons Mark and Tim attend George Fox, and my youngest son Andrew is a student at Newberg High School. My hobbies include fishing, golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, cooking and music and I like to run and swim for exercise. I enjoy writing devotionals for Fruit of the Vine published by Barclay Press, barclaypress.com, and recently started a blog at: blogoutofmyeye.blogspot.com
