Virtual-Community Learning EnvironmentThe MA in Ministry Leadership degree is for individuals in ministry without formal theological education living in any geographical location. It is a full time, three-year, 56-credit-hour degree program. The learning environment consists of virtual communities that engage online six days a week, with face-to-face gatherings twice a year in Portland, Oregon. The face-to-face gatherings meet for eight days each (from Wednesday to Wednesday) in October and February. Summer courses are online.

- Study with the same group of peers throughout the program
- Begin with a two-day on-site Threshold event that ushers students into their cohort community, the dynamics of the Ministry Leadership learning environment, and the systems needed for success in the program.
- Customize your learning experience with coaching, seminars, and independent studies.
This degree is designed for:
- Church staff for large or medium churches whether paid or volunteer
- Emerging church leaders and church planters
- Small and midsize church pastors who can't relocate for seminary training
- Parachurch leaders, mission leaders, or outside-the-box social service leaders
- To enable the individual student to mature into God’s fullness
- To encourage habits of authentic disciplines for thinking and living in Christ’s presence
- To train students to understand themselves and relate to others as created in God’s image and called into community and ministry
- To gain a critical and constructive understanding of the biblical and theological foundations of the Christian tradition
- To enable students to understand the mission of God in the world and their place in it
- To equip students to understand the mission of the church, the church’s role in the world, and the student’s relationship to it
- To equip transforming leaders to lead their churches
