Become a Student

Applying to the Semiotics and Future Studies DMin program at George Fox University requires several crucial steps. Please follow details outlined below to ensure that you correctly complete the admissions process in a timely fashion:

Steps to Apply

  1. Make sure you are able to meet the Doctor of Minisry program admission requirements:
  2. Apply now! There is a rolling application deadline; apply now for next start date.

      • Download and fill out the Doctor of Ministry Application for Admission form (Please note that the $40 non refundable application fee is waived at present if you complete and return the .PDF application).
      • Forward the Professional, Academic, and Personal Reference Forms to your chosen references.
      • Order the official transcripts for each college or university attended.
      • Send printed application, references (professional, academic, and personal), your vitae/resume, and transcripts to the following address:

  3. Optional: Apply for federal student aid by completing the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) form:

  4. Optional: Apply for church matching grants up to $600. If you wish to apply, complete the church matching form.
  5. Complete an entrance interview with the Director or Associate Director of of the Doctor of Ministry program in person, by telephone, or by skype.
    • Note: The interview requires the completed admission file (ie. steps 1-4 need to be complete); University Admissions will notify you when your file is complete.
    • Sheila Bartlett will contact you and place you in contact with the Administrative Assistant for the DMin Program, Dee Small. She will work with you to set up the entrance interview.
  6. Once you have been accepted into the program:
    • You will receive an official letter of acceptance from University Admissions and a personal welcome email from the Director or Associate Director of the DMin program.
    • A new "GFU Google-E-mail" university e-mail account will be created for you. Access information will be sent to the e-mail address you submitted in the application process.
    • You will be given access to "MyGFU," an online student-services tool that allows you to register for courses, update your personal information, etc. Access information will be sent to the e-mail address you submitted in the application process.
  7. Upon acceptance into the program, remit the enrollment deposit of $200.
    • This is very important! You cannot register for any courses or gain access into the online FoxTALE course site until the university has received the enrollment deposit.
    • Send the enrollment deposit to the following address by July 15:

      • Portland, OR 97223
    • OR: You may pay the enrollment deposit online.
      • If you choose to pay in this manner, note the following details:
        • There is a 2.5% nonrefundable web services and handling fee to use this option.
        • It may take 2-3 days to be fully processed.
        • Your ID is listed as the "University ID" on your MyGFU > Self-Service > Student Center > Personal Information (heading) > Demographic Data. It is a seven-digit number.
        • Be sure to apply this payment to the "Fall Tuition."
      • Pay the enrollment deposit online

Once you have completed the application process, you may begin to prepare for the first module's coursework.
