David Myton joined the GFU faculty in 1966 to develop an undergraduate secondary teacher education program which was approved by the Oregon Board of Education in 1968. In 1972, he was appointed to the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission to represent independent colleges and universities. In 1976, he accepted the position of coordinator of teacher education for TSPC and in 1989 was promoted to Executive Director of the agency. In 2002, he returned to GFU as interim dean and professor of education of the newly formed School of Education.
