Tom Head is professor of economics, and chairperson of the international studies program. He came to George Fox University in 1971.

His academic preparation includes an undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Oregon and graduate degrees in marketing from the University of Oregon and economics from the University of California at Berkeley.

Besides his work at George Fox, Tom has held teaching and research positions at Southern Pacific Transportation Company, the University of Oregon, the University of Colorado, and the University of California at Berkeley.

His writings have ranged from the theological and spiritual pieces in such publications as The Christian Century, Friends Journal, and The Evangelical Friend, to professional writings in The Journal of Economic Literature, The International Journal of Development Planning Literature, Focus, and The A.C.E. Bulletin.

Tom is active in national and international Quaker organizations, including serving as a past national chairman of the Friends Association for Higher Education. He is a former member of the board of directors of the American Friends Service Committee in Philadelphia and the Quaker United Nations Office in New York. He presently serves as a member of the Quaker United Nations Committee-Geneva, Switzerland.
