SPS Oregon Commencement Ceremony Information
SPS Banquet
An SPS Graduation Banquet for students and family members is held approximately one week before graduation. This event is a chance for cohorts to celebrate together with family and friends. The Banquet is held on the Newberg Campus. Students will receive a written invitation. Family and friends are encouraged to attend.Ceremony Dates and Times
- Spring Commencement is held on the Saturday after the last day of Spring semester classes. The SPS and Graduate ceremony is held at 7 p.m. Graduates are asked to assemble at 6 p.m.
- December Commencement is on the Saturday after the last day of Fall semester classes. The ceremony is held at 2 p.m. Graduates are asked to assemble at 1 p.m.
- Comencement is held in the Wheeler Sports Center at 1200 Fulton Street, Newberg, on the north side of the Newberg Campus. The graduation ceremony typically lasts approximately one-and-a-half-hours.
- No tickets are required to bring guests. Graduates are encouraged to llmit their guests to 10; however, exceptions can be made. Seating of guests begins one hour before the ceremony.
- Guests will be seated on bleachers. There is limited seating available on the main floor for those not physically able to climb the bleachers. Call the Office of Academic Affairs (503-554-2140 or 800-765-4369, ext. 2140) or e-mail Andrea Byerley at abyerley@georgefox.edu as soon as possible if any of your guests require special seating.
Regalia (Robes)
- All students filled out an application for graduation about half-way through their program. At that time, they also ordered their cap and gown. If you are unsure whether you filled out this form, you are welcome to call Danielle Ambrose at 503-554-6102 or email her at dambrose@georgefox.edu.
- Regalia will arrive at the Portland Center two weeks prior to graduation. (Current Salem cohorts will pick up their regalia in class.) The last day to pick up these items is the Wednesday before graduation. If you simply cannot pick up the regalia by Wednesday, please let us know and we will make special arrangements.
- Students may call the SPS office (503-554-6180) or watch the George Fox website for information about the arrival of regalia. There will be a Graduation Information link on the George Fox homepage.
