Associate Professor, History

Carol came to George Fox University in August 2005 as the first dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS). She moved to Portland from Eastern New Mexico, where she had served as the dean for Wayland Baptist University's Clovis Campus for more than nine years.

Carol absolutely loves working with adult students and creating and managing programs that serve them well. As the dean of the SPS, Carol has academic and administrative oversight over the five undergraduate degree-completion majors and the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program. She strongly values the opinions of current students and alumni about the SPS programs and would love to hear what you think.

Carol's academic passions are 19th century American history and leadership. She enjoys teaching classes in these areas when she has the chance. In 2004, she published a book on Chimborazo Hospital that has been very well received and nominated for a national history award.

Carol married her high-school sweetheart, Robert, and they have three wonderful daughters and a very large Irish Setter. She enjoys cooking, exploring the outdoors with her family, and reading good books. When you talk to her on the phone, you'll hear a little bit of a Texas accent, which tends to get thicker after a visit "home" or a phone call to her sister or parents.
