Evergreen Aviation Museum will welcome Mary Feik as the keynote speaker for this celebration. Feik is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal, logging more that 6,000 hours as a pilot. She first fell in love with aviation when she rebuilt an airline motor at age 18. She taught aircraft maintenance to crew chiefs and mechanics in the US Army Air Corps in 1942, during WWII, and became an expert in military aircraft. She was the first woman engineer in the Air Technical Service Command’s Engineering Division at Wright Field in Ohio and has won several aviation craftsmanship awards.

Men and Women in Society with Melanie Hulbert, Assistant Professor of Sociology
A study of how societies construct gender similarities and differences. The impact of gender upon individuals and social institutions, and the implications of a sociological understanding of gender for the Christian faith will be explored.

- Gender reconciliation group begins meeting in February
Advanced-level graduate student interns from Counseling and Family Therapy will be hosting a gender reconciliation discussion group. The theologically-oriented group is designed to open dialogue about concerns such as:- Theological anthropology
- Gender roles in marriage
- Gender and the church
- Society and gender relations
- Language and gender
- Gender reconciliation
- Women’s Ministry at GFU
Meets each Thursday evening during the school year
Topics and activities vary from Bible study to movie nights!

- 2008 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders
For more than 20 years, this conference has offered students the perfect opportunity to hone their leadership skills and become empowered to implement change on campus and in their communities. During this fast-paced, energizing conference students will- Hear exciting keynote speakers and meet inspiring Women of Distinction Award recipients. Former awardees have included playwright, performer, and activist Eve Ensler; Olympic medalist Dominique Dawes; and activist and author Rebecca Walker.
- Participate in workshops focusing on advocacy, leadership, health and wellness, and "real world" issues like financial literacy and post-college life.
- Enjoy endless opportunities to network, network, network.
- Take part in optional community service projects and preconference activities, including an informative morning training session entitled "Young Women at the Voting Booth: Election 2008" and a tour of Washington, D.C.

Women and the Bible with Dr. Kendra Irons, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies.
Literary Foundations of Women's Studies with Dr. Kathleen Heininge, Assistant Professor of Writing/Literature. This 3 credit hour course introduces students to literature that presents the groundwork for women's studies and considers a selection of contemporary texts that apply that perspective. Reading will include significant novels, poems, and essays that demonstrate the history of women's contribution to literature, culture, and Christianity.

- Summer Symposium: Women and Minorities in Educational Leadership

This symposium is designed for those individuals interested in the issue of women and minorities in either public schools or higher education. The invited speakers are all serving as principals or district level administrators in public schools, or deans, vice presidents or presidents of colleges. Individuals may attend just one day, several days, an entire week or the entire time.
The symposium is FREE, as it is paid for by a special fund in the Educational Foundations and Leadership department that was established to bring in excellent speakers to challenge our students and the wider community. Daily lunch is available for purchase.
Cost: $120/double+ occupancy; $175/single occupancy

The weekend is designed to enlighten your spirit, encourage your personal growth, and provide opportunities to laugh and have fun. It’s a chance to immerse yourself in God’s Word and be uplifted by worshipful music. You can invest time in precious friendships both old and new and leave refreshed in body, mind and spirit. A main speaker is not scheduled, but a guided Bible study is available to be done as an individual or in small groups throughout the weekend. Worship sessions are scheduled to gather corporately and sing, share, and pray within community.

Women of Congress
Linfield College's theater program will perform a political comedy, Women of Congress, March 20-23, 2007 in Marshall Theater. Written by Astrophane in 393 B. C., and recently adapted by Jules Tasca, the play tells the story of the women of Athens who decide to take Congress into their own hands when the men fail to bring peace & prosperity.
