The university fielded a football team from 1894 to 1968, but dropped it for financial and other reasons. The university’s board of trustees approved the reinstatement of football in March of 2010. September 6, 2014, was the historic season opener, as the football team put on a show for the record-setting 3,659 spectators.

The Pacific College Football team in 1905. The school played its first intercollegiate game on Nov. 17, 1894, against Willamette University. The steamboat trip to Salem took about seven hours.

Coach Chris Casey was at the helm as the Bruins, in the fall of 2014, kicked off their first season in 46 years. He has built the new program from the ground up.
