Chehalem Symphony Orchestra

Cellist Valdine Ritchie Mishkin is setting down her roots in Oregon, establishing herself as both a sought-after cello teacher and engaging chamber musician. Dedicated to working with a broad spectrum of students, Valdine teaches at George Fox University and at her home studio, Suzuki Lake Oswego, and frequently coaches students in chamber music and orchestral repertoire.

Valdine has explored a wide range of musical genres and disciplines, from period baroque to large orchestra to live radio and studio recording. A seasoned performer of both ensemble and solo repertoire, she champions contemporary works through themed lecture-recitals with The Bluebox Ensemble, and performs with the Delphinium Quartet on the All-Classical FM Classical Pub series. Valdine recently performed live on All-Classical FM’s Thursdays at Three, took center stage playing the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Chehalem Symphony, and has been a part of the cello sections of the Oregon Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, and Mercury Baroque Ensemble.

Valdine holds a Doctorate and Masters in Music from Rice University as a student of Lynn Harrell and Norman Fischer, a Bachelor of Music from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) as a student of Antonio Lysy, and holds both performance diplomas (A.R.C.T.) and teaching certificates in cello and piano from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto.
