Teaching and Research Interests: Near Eastern languages and cultures
The university welcomed Melissa Ramos as an assistant professor of biblical studies in 2017. In the eight years prior, she worked as a lecturer in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in teaching courses on Jerusalem and Near Eastern languages and cultures. She also served as an adjunct professor of Old Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary from 2007 to 2017.
Previously, Ramos was an associate pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas, from 2003 to 2006. She holds a PhD in Near Eastern languages and cultures from UCLA (2015), a master of philosophy in religious studies in biblical Hebrew from Cambridge University (2002), an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary (2001) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Irvine (1997).
