Patagonia

Patagonia is a spectacular part of the world. Known for its rugged landscape, adventure possibilities, and spectacular views, Patagonia will not disappoint. Our trip will include visits to important historical sites and museums (Santiago) and an extended backpacking/hiking trip through the famed Torres del Paine National Park. Additionally, we will enjoy rafting, hot springs, climbing a volcano, and (possibly) kayaking. We will encounter King Penguins before returning to Portland. A true adventure awaits us!
Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Santiago, Chile
Day 2: City tour, Cerro San Cristobal, Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino
Day 3: Flight to Temuco and transfer to Pucon
Day 4: Rafting in the morning and visit to hot springs in the afternoon
Day 5: We will visit Villarica Volcano and either climb it to the summit (full day) or kayak in the afternoon
Day 6: Flight to Natales
Day 7: Transfer to Bories Pier, Balmaceda and Serrano Glacier, Torres del Paine. We will camp out in Las Torres Sector
Day 8: 6km hike from Central to El Chileno and then on to Torres Base. 9.6km return hike
Day 9: Hike from Chileno to Cuernos, 11km where we will camp
Day 10: Hike from Cuernos to Paine Grande, with French Valley, 22.6km
Day 11: Hike from Paine Grande to Grey, 11.6km where we will camp
Day 12: Travel to Grey Beach next to Hotel Grey and on to Punta Arenas where we will spend the night
Day 13: Full day trip to encounter King Penguins
Day 14: Flight back to Portland (via Santiago)
