Living and Learning in Rome

Program Overview
George Fox University students may apply to study in Rome, Italy for one semester in the Living and Learning program.  This is a new program beginning in Fall 2020. Living and Learning is a study abroad program designed for college students who desire to grow in their ability to integrate Life and Learning - to connect their walk with God to the realities of history and its impact on our lives, modern culture and post-Chrisitan influences in the world. This program combines classroom learning, ministry, mission and practical experiences in a unique and challenging cross-cultural setting. (Living and Learning also has a program in Quito, Ecuador)

Courses
The History of Ideas - 3 credits
Understanding the Art of Architecture - 3 credits
History of the Christian Church - 3 credits
The Ancient Roman World - 3 credits
Cultural Perspectives and Italian Language - 3 credits
International Business - 3 credits

Excursions
• Field trips to monuments and museums throughout Rome including the Roman Forum, Colosseum, and Vatican City.
• Academic guided tours are offered to Florence, Pompeii, Greece, and Sicily.
• Two weeks of independent travel allow students the ability to travel on their own throughout Europe.

Program Fees
Students pay their regular George Fox tuition and room and aboard and continue to receive all of their financial aid.  Due to the high cost of some programs an additional fee may be charged.  The student is responsible for round trip airfare.  There also may be an additional charge for a visa. The fee does include emergency travel insurance.

Application
The student will fill out two applications:

The Living and Learning application should only be completed after being informed from the Director of Study Abroad that you are accepted for an off-campus study semester.

Housing
Students will share a double room on the top floor of a four-story convent in the Pigneto neighborhood.
