The Biochemistry and Chemistry Scholarship Competition will consist of five parts. The first three parts will need to be submitted by January 25, 2019, using this link to upload your documents.

Note: You will be asked to sign into your Google account to access the form. Please create an account if you do not have one.

Part 1: One-page resume (PDF format) that includes:
• Education background with G.P.A.
• Grades for all science, math and social science courses
• College credit courses taken along with grades
• Leadership, volunteer and extracurricular activities
• Work and/or internship experiences
• Additional information you feel is important

Part 2: Reference Letter (PDF format)
A one-page letter from someone who knows you and can speak to your interest in science.

Part 3: Essay (PDF format)
Write an essay and be sure to cite any sources used (maximum 3 pages in PDF format). 
How can the study of chemistry be applied to a specific problem such as one of the following:
(Choose one of the problems below and discuss how chemistry can be used to address it?)
• Global climate change
• Molecular-level understanding of diseases such as HIV or cancer
• The detection of biological or nuclear materials that could serve as weapons of mass destruction

Part 4: 30-minute interview
Your interview will be with a biochemistry/chemistry faculty member at Scholarship Competition. Be prepared to articulate:
1) Why you would be a good fit for our program? 
2) Why you are interested in biochemistry/chemistry? 
3) Share/expound on your essay.

Part 5: Department Tour 
You will be given a 30-minute tour/demonstration of the science labs and facilities by one of our department ambassadors and also have an opportunity to have lunch with one of our ambassadors.
