Laurie Bloomquist, PhD

Assistant Professor of Counseling

I joined the Graduate School of Counseling as an assistant professor of counseling in 2020. Previously, I ran my own business, Living Hope Counseling, for eight years, and I taught for 10 years at Western Seminary in Portland as an assistant professor of counseling (2016-20), an instructor of counseling (2015-16), and an adjunct professor of counseling (2010-15).

My clinical experience includes serving at a number of Portland-area counseling centers for 10 years. I also worked as a child and family therapist for Trillium Family Services (2009-12) and as a group facilitator for The Dougy Center for Grieving Children (2009-12).

I hold a PhD in counseling from Oregon State University (2016), a master’s degree in counseling from Western Seminary (2009), and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The College of Idaho (2004). I lives in Portland and attend Bread and Wine Church.
