Keleigh Blount, PhD

Assistant Professor

Clinical Director, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program

I joined the Graduate School of Counseling in 2019 to serve as an assistant professor and director of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I am originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, where I worked as a community outpatient therapist. I engaged in therapeutic work with children and families involved in the criminal justice system, and families who have been diagnosed with medical disabilities and illness such as cancer.

I utilize group adventure based experiential therapeutic techniques and outdoor therapy in counseling. As an educator, I also utilize adventure based experiential constructivist learning pedagogy to assist with connecting material to real-life scenarios that may happen in the counseling space.

I completed my PhD in rehabilitation counseling and rehabilitation counselor education (2019) and my MS in clinical mental health counseling (2016) from North Carolina A&T State University, a historically Black college and university (HBCU) in North Carolina.
