Karlyn Fleming

Executive Assistant

Since 1988, Karlyn Fleming has spent nearly all of her career at George Fox, working for nine and a half years in the university’s spiritual life office and eight years in academic affairs before joining the advancement team in 2017. She loves her job because she so strongly believes in what the institution does to shape students’ lives and wants to support the ongoing work of making a George Fox education more accessible and affordable.

As the executive assistant to the VP for advancement, Karlyn supports many of the office’s communications pieces (writing, editing, production), works with a team to put on large and small events, coordinates the work of the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees, manages the logistical work for hiring new team members, and maintains the office spaces.

What she truly loves is seeing the transformation that takes place in the lives of our students, academically and spiritually, as well as following the professional and personal successes of the students she has worked with over the years.

Karlyn is also encouraged by our donors. “They are so supportive of the work here, and I enjoy the unique connections each donor has to the university,” she says. “They truly believe in George Fox and are committed to making this place thrive!”

In 2016, Karlyn graduated from Portland Seminary with a master’s degree in ministry leadership. She uses her education every day in her interactions with donors and team members. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her large extended family; reading biographies, historical fiction and theology; and traveling (Israel is her favorite destination so far).

One fun fact about her: She has a fuzzy, sweet, anxiety-prone rescue dog named Cooper and she loves him to pieces!
