Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program Formats and Locations

George Fox has a number of campus sites, making the education process more convenient with shorter commutes. In addition to our main campus located in Newberg, Oregon, the university also provides locations in Portland, Redmond, and Salem, along with a virtual option. Each site provides full support and service for MAT students. All formats graduate in late April or early May.

  • 10.5 months (3 semesters) or 16 months (4 semesters) - a fourth semester can be added during the self-paced Phase 2 coursework.

  • 16 months (4 semesters) or 20 months (5 semesters) - a fifth semester can be added during the self-paced Phase 2 coursework.
  • Classes typically meet one evening per week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with approximately one Saturday class per month. Occasionally an additional evening or Saturday may be required.
  • Virtual classes are taught using a delivery method in which students interact with their professor and classmates online in real time. These virtual classes meet one to two evenings per week and one Saturday per month. Students are also required to attend one in-person session at the Portland Center each semester (4 total sessions over the course of the entire program).
