Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program Formats and Locations

George Fox has a number of campus sites, making the education process more convenient with shorter commutes. In addition to our main campus located in Newberg, Oregon, the university also provides locations in Portland, Redmond, and Salem, along with a virtual option. Each site provides full support and service for MAT students. All formats graduate in late April or early May.

  • Classes are taught using a virtual delivery method in which students interact with their professor and classmates online in real time. These virtual classes meet one to two evenings per week and one Saturday per month. Students are also required to attend one in-person session at the Portland Center each semester (4 total sessions over the course of the entire program).

1 Full-time MAT students with a single-subject focus take one night class during the fall semester once a week at the Portland Center campus.

2 The final two semesters of all part-time formats are full-time in order to complete student-teaching requirements.

3 Single-subject candidates in the Salem cohort are required to complete their pedagogy course at the Portland Center one to two nights a week during the fall semester of the program.
