Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program in Portland

George Fox University offers two part-time MAT program formats at its Portland Center located near the I-5/217 interchange in Tigard.

Both the MAT In Your Community and MAT At Night program formats consist of the same number of credits and graduate in late April or early May. The MAT At Night format is spread out over one additional semester, offering a less intense pace than the MAT In Your Community format. Contact your admissions counselor for more information.

Choose the format that best suits your schedule:

MAT In Your Community

  • Part-time*
  • 16 months (4 semesters)
  • Offered in Portland, Salem or Redmond
  • Portland and Salem classes meet one evening per week from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. with approximately one Saturday class per month. Redmond may meet two to three evenings per week during the fall, with typically two Saturday meetings per month.
  • Starts each year in early January

MAT At Night

  • Part-time*
  • 20 months (5 semesters)
  • Offered only in Portland
  • Classes meet one evening per week from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. with approximately one Saturday class per month.
  • Starts each year in late August

*The final two semesters in both the MAT In Your Community and MAT At Night formats are full-time in order to complete student-teaching requirements.
