Kelly Carlisle joined the College of Education as an assistant professor of education and director of administrative licensure in 2018. He worked the previous 10 years in the Salem-Keizer Public School District, the last four of which as an assistant superintendent responsible for oversight of K-12 education, instructional services, and student services departments.

Prior to that, from 2008 to 2014, he served as the district’s director of secondary education, for which he supervised and supported principals at six large comprehensive high schools and two alternative high schools. Carlisle worked previously at Milwaukie High School in the North Clackamas School District from 1986 to 2008, as a principal (2005-08), an assistant principal (2001-05) and as choral director (1986 to 2001).

Carlisle earned a master’s degree in teaching from Portland State in 1989 and a bachelor’s degree in education from Pacific Lutheran University in 1983.
