George Fox alumna named to 'Forty Under 40' list
A George Fox graduate, Starla Jean Goff, was recognized as one of Portland's top young business professionals this month with her selection to the Portland Business Journal's 2011 "Forty Under 40" list.
Goff, who practices law as a partner at Portland firm Smith Freed & Eberhard, will be among those honored at a Feb. 18 luncheon at the Hilton Hotel in Portland. Event details are available on the Portland Business Journal website.
Each year, the Journal receives hundreds of nominations for the award, and the publication's editors select the final honorees. The winners are recognized for character and achievement in their careers, engagement in civic activities, volunteerism in the community and genuine passion for what they do.
Goff, who graduated from George Fox in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, focuses her law practice on businesses and represents her clients in a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, product liability, director and officer liability, employment litigation and personal injury claims, according to her firm's website. Her clientele consists of insurance companies, large corporations and entrepreneurial clients in external sensitive matters. She also provides personal counsel to executives and business owners.
Goff also gives presentations to businesses and insurance professionals regarding Oregon and Washington law, which recently included "The Liability of Gossip in the Workplace," "Protecting Your Assets" and "Hot Topics." She also gives legislative and case updates for corporate clients.
