C-SPAN recording a lecture from Kerry Irish

Anyone who has taken a class from Kerry Irish can attest to the longtime professor's passion for his subject matter and his love of sharing history with students. Now, a nationwide audience will get the opportunity to see that passion on their television sets.

Recently, a film crew from C-SPAN visited the George Fox campus to record Irish's "The Presidency of George Washington" lecture. It is scheduled to be broadcast on the C-SPAN Network's "Lectures in History" program at 5 p.m. PST on Saturday, Nov. 30, and again at 10 a.m. PST on Sunday, Dec. 1. In the Portland area, it will be on Comcast Channel 106 (C-SPAN3).

Irish's expertise is 20th-century American military, political and diplomatic history, and the history of the American West. His article, "Dwight Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines: There Must Be a Day of Reckoning," in The Journal of Military History received the Army Historical Foundation’s prize for the best article on the U.S. Army to appear in a journal or magazine in 2010.
