A Message from the Dean of Libraries

Ryan Ingersoll

Welcome to the George Fox University library's web site! Through these web pages the library is accessible to you 24 hours every day. Here you will be able to access George Fox's library collection through Primo, and also connect to Summit, which provides access to the collections of dozens of academic libraries in Oregon and Washington. Thousands of full text journals, many electronic books, and both audio and video streamed content are available online to George Fox students, faculty, and staff. You can also find reserve materials, and in some cases access those materials full text online. All of these resources can be accessed from any location via the Internet.

I also invite you to take advantage of the services available through our knowledgeable librarians and staff. Librarians at both our libraries (Newberg and Portland Center) can help you strategize your research needs, and find the best information for your projects and assignments. You may contact librarians via e-mail, online chat, phone, or on site at either library's research help desk. Summit borrowing and interlibrary loan services enable students, faculty, and staff to conveniently obtain resources outside of our own collections. In addition, the Academic Resource Center is now located at both the Murdock Learning Resource Center (Newberg) and the Portland Center library.

When you visit the Murdock Learning Resource Center or the Portland Center Library, you will find rich collections of books, journals, sound recordings, video, microforms, archival materials, and other materials not available online. You will also be able to access online resources through computers in the information commons or through your own computer via wireless connections. Attractive study environments are available at both libraries, and will meet the needs of those wanting to study as part of a group or in a quiet, private carrel.

We want to help you meet your research and learning goals, and trust the resources and services we provide will prove helpful to you. Please feel free to contact a librarian or staff member if we can be of assistance.
