Meeting Time: Monday, 6:30 - 9:00PM

This study tour will begin in Berlin and start us on an exploration of the effects of WWII on the people, the politics and the impact of the loss of freedom in towns and cities in Germany, The Czech Republic, Austria and France. In Berlin, we will discover what life was like for Dietrich Bonhoeffer; learn about the Berlin Wall, and later, tour the city on bicycles. The “Sound of Music Bicycle Tour" in Salzburg will allow us to see what life was like for the Von Trapp family. In Prague, Salzburg, Munich and Paris, our tour will reveal cathedrals, castles, fortresses, city centers and camps where lives and freedom were indelibly impacted. We will visit museums and war memorials, gardens and parks, churches and cemeteries. We will hike in the Alps, visit Hitler’s Eagle's Nest, see the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle of King Ludwig and visit Mozart’s boyhood home. We will view Paris from the Eiffel Tower; visit Notre Dame and the Arc de Triumph and the Louvre. Finally, we will take a guided tour of the beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery before returning to Paris for the flight home.
