Barbara Stewart, piano, joined the music faculty at George Fox in 2007. She currently teaches applied piano, accompanying and class piano, and also directs the piano ensemble, and, as a staff accompanist, plays for student vocalists and instrumentalists, as well as for the choirs.
Barbara was part of the music faculty at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., from 1993 to 2007, teaching class piano and directing all aspects of the accompanying program for the School of Music. An experienced vocal, choral, and instrumental accompanist, Barbara also has extensive experience in opera/musical theater and served as musical director for Orange County Opera and Inland Opera, groups which provided musical outreach programs for schools all over Southern California.
In addition to her academic positions, Barbara has also maintained a studio of piano students, worked as an adjudicator, and served in a number of church music positions. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, professional music fraternity for women, and was elected to membership in Pi Kappa Lambda, the prestigious music honor society.
