Among the tools and services used on this website, George Fox University uses Google Analytics to track how you use the website. Subject to change, the Google Display Advertising features George Fox University currently uses are Remarketing, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting.

These features are used to advertise online; to allow third-party vendors, including Google, to show you advertising across the Internet; to allow George Fox University and third-party vendors, including Google, to use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on your past visits to the website and to report how ad impressions, uses of ad services, and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to the website. Data from Google's interest-based advertising or third-party audience data (such as age, gender, and interests) is also combined with Google Analytics to better understand the needs of users of this website and to improve our services.

Information We Collect and How We Use It

We collect personal information that you send to George Fox University or that you permit us to obtain from third parties in order for the University to fulfill its mission. Information may be collected for online admission applications and deposits, address updates, gifts, topical surveys, advertising George Fox programs and events, and other uses deemed relevant to the university and its constituencies.

We may use your information in order to process student, financial aid or employment applications, student or employee registrations, and other services and benefits that we provide to our constituents. Email addresses and phone numbers you provide may be used to send you information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.

We also collect information from you when you access George Fox’s website. We may collect non-personal information about the computer, mobile device or other device you use to access the website such as IP address, geolocation information, unique device identifiers, browser type, browser language or other information of this nature in order to improve our services.

Data Logging

George Fox University’s systems may automatically collect and log information when you use George Fox’s website or other electronic systems. Log data may include your IP address, date and time these systems were used, and technical information about your devices.

Log data may be used to facilitate your access to George Fox systems and services, monitor system performance, troubleshoot problems, and facilitate George Fox’s response in the event of prohibited uses of computing resources, or unauthorized access to sensitive data. Log files and data are stored no longer than they are needed for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and forensic purposes.

Data Retention and Deletion

We comply with all applicable regulations regarding retention and deletion of personal data and retain information only as long as it is needed for University operations and strategic planning.

Sharing of Information 

The university uses outside companies for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to, delivering bookstore orders, staging and hosting online forms used for admissions, online giving, and registering for events hosted by or affiliated with the university. The university makes every effort to ensure that the privacy policies of each outside company complies with this privacy policy.

How We Share and Disclose Data

We may share user information with third parties only for purposes related to the fulfillment of the University mission--e.g. sharing applicant information with third parties who help process information and communicate with applicants. We may also share information with third parties in aggregated, anonymized or pseudonymized form for higher education research purposes.

We employ a variety of technical and procedural measures to protect your information from misuse and unauthorized access. These measures include policies that limit access to your information to the fewest number of individuals who need that information for operational and strategic purposes. Firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, log monitoring, data encryption, and other technical measures are used to safeguard your data from unauthorized access.
