Joining me on the inaugural George Fox Ultimate Road Trip was alumnus Tyler VanderZanden ’11, who had graduated only four days earlier. George Fox Alumnus wins third place in International Songwriting Competition
The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) is an annual song contest that provides the opportunity for both aspiring and established songwriters to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena. George Fox graduate Alex Post (’10) came away with a victory this year in the contest winning third place in the Hip Hop/R&B category. The winning song is off an album written with jazz musician Erin Elizabeth Aubrey. Visit Life in the Fox Lane to read the full story.
May Serve trip takes students to Peru to assist earthquake victims
A team of 19 George Fox University students and staff will travel to Peru in May to assist families still recovering from the 2007 earthquake that forced many from their homes. The team will visit the South American country from May 7 to June 1 as part of the university’s annual May Serve program. While there, the group will partner with Adventures in Missions (AIM), an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. AIM plans, organizes and leads short-term mission trips with the goal of mobilizing people into life-long discipleship and long-term missions. Click here to read more.
George Fox selects top teacher, researcher, award recipients
A psychology professor and a sociologist who has published four books in eight years were selected as George Fox University’s top undergraduate teacher and researcher for the 2010-11 academic year, respectively. At the graduate level, a seminary professor and a professional counselor who serves as director of the school’s Trauma Response Institute were named the year's top graduate researcher and teacher. The Central Oregon Paddle & Putt - June 25-26
Alumni, parents, and friends are invited to take on the whitewater of the Deschutes River on Saturday and the challenging greens of Juniper Golf Course followed by an hors d’oeuvres reception on Sunday. Golf Tournament – July 14
Join fellow golfers for the annual George Fox golf tournament at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha, Ore. We are seeking sponsors and players for the tournament, which supports student scholarships and the Bruin Athletic Association. Many sponsorship levels are available. Mariners Game – July 16
Watch the Mariners take on the Texas Rangers with other members of the George Fox Family. Dinner in the Lookout Landing area of Safeco field begins at 5:30pm and the game starts at 7:10pm. Cost is $42 for the game and dinner. For more information and to register, click here or call 503-554-2131.
Phillies Game – July 29
Join fellow alumni, parents, students, and friends of George Fox for a Phillies game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Prior to the game we will have dinner together at a local restaurant and after the game we will enjoy a fireworks show at the park. Cost is $30 for the game and dinner. Boise Hawks Game – August 17

George Fox invites youths to campus for sports camps
Spring and summer means sports camp season at George Fox. Youths of all ages are invited to participate in any number of events on campus, among them a girls basketball camp with Michael Meek (right), who guided the Bruins to the Elite Eight of the NCAA D-III tournament this spring. Homecoming 2011 - Save The Date
Fall Back to Fox this October 7-9th for Homecoming 2011. You won’t want to miss this exciting new and re-imagined weekend. This weekend of celebration will include the first-ever Homecoming Gala, an outdoor tailgate party, redesigned class reunions, and so much more! Class reunions will take place for the classes of 2001, 1991, 1986, 1981, 1971, and 1951, while affinity reunions will be for biology and chemistry alumni and everyone that participated in University Players. If you would like to be involved in planning any of these reunions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Open Board Positions
The Alumni Board is currently seeking applications or nominations for positions representing alumni from the 1990s, 2000s, and the PsyD program. Service on the alumni board is a valuable way to give back to and stay connected with the George Fox community.
