Pre-Professional Programs

Do you have an interest in studying law or medicine in a Christian college setting? Have aspirations of being a dentist, pharmacist or veterinarian someday? George Fox offers pre-professional courses that will equip you to gain admission into medical, dental, pharmaceautical and veterinary programs. We also offer a broad liberal arts eduation that prepares you for entry into law school.
We offer the following programs:
- Pre-Medicine
- Pre-Dental
- Pre-Pharmacy
- Pre-Veterinary
- Pre-Law
If med school, dentistry, pharmacy or veterinary medicine are of interest to you, consider majoring in biology or chemistry. Or, you may choose any major we offer as long as you take specific courses required by your graduate school of choice. Whatever you decide, you will find all of the science and mathematics courses you need to prepare you to enter any professional school in the region.
Medical School Acceptance Rate
George Fox has had an excellent success rate (approximately 80 percent compared to a national average of 50 percent) of its students being accepted into medical school. In particular, those students who have GPAs of 3.5 or higher have an acceptance rate of better than 95 percent
Consult with your academic advisor early to set up a plan for a strong program. Also, be aware that, in addition to meeting the minimal entrance requirements, good grades (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) and a strong performance on national admission tests (MCAT, DAT and VAT) are essential. You will also need letters of recommendation and an interview with the professional school's admission committee.
Preparing for Law School
If you’re considering law school, you have a wide range of options. The best preparation for law school is a broad liberal arts education as an undergraduate. You may choose from many different majors, supplementing the major with electives and general education options that stress writing and oral communication skills, logical and critical thinking, close reading of difficult material, and deeper understanding of society and culture.
Our pre-law advisor will work with you to help you design your courses of study, plan for entry into law school, and sponsor events to give you exposure to the law and the legal profession.
