The Association for Play Therapy (APT) is the primary professional organization dedicated to the field of play therapy. Its stated mission is to promote the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists. Mental health therapists and others interested in play therapy are encouraged to join the APT.
The Center for Play Therapy at the University of North Texas is the largest play therapy training center in the world. Founded by Dr. Garry Landreth, the center provides training and resources, as well as graduate and doctoral coursework in play therapy.
