Accreditation

George Fox University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

The NWCCU is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation to accredit postsecondary institutions in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and British Columbia, along with other domestic and international geographic areas.

The goal of accreditation is to ensure acceptable levels of educational quality, stability, and sustainability. Accreditation takes into account student achievement, learning, and success, accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. Each institution conducts a self-study and produces progressively more comprehensive reports during each seven-year cycle.

When granted, accreditation is not limited or partial; it applies to the entire institution in operation at the time of the most recent comprehensive evaluation. It indicates that the institution as a whole is substantially achieving its mission and that it meets the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities’ expectations for compliance with the accreditation criteria.

George Fox University has been accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities since 1959. The next accreditation cycle will be complete in April, 2021. Inquiries regarding an institution’s accredited status by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities should be directed to the administrative staff of the institution.
