Social Responsibility Fund

The creation of this fund is intended to extend the reach of ASC into off campus communities with the intent of meeting needs in the spirit of Jesus' life.

The motivation for creating this fund is threefold. First, we recognize the immense need that exists throughout the world. While realizing money is not the sole solution to peoples and societies problems, it is needed. Second, we are aware of the wealth we possess, and our potential to make a positive impact on the lives of untold numbers of people. Finally, as Christians we believe it is our responsibility to care for God's creation and love His children. The creation of this fund is a step in this direction.

The SRF will be used by ASC to work through organizations and people whose work we respect and desire to support. The money will be distributed on the prerogative of ASC CC who will be responsible to distribute the fund in its entirety every year.

Specifications:

  • The President will directly oversee the fund though ASC collectively will administer it.
  • Appropriate organizations will be directly involved in the business of meeting needs and/or alleviating poverty.
  • Donating towards scientific research, social activist organizations, or similar groups is not appropriate.
  • The funds are not to be used to directly support current George Fox students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • An organization does not have to Christian in order for us to support them. However, the expectation is that any group we support will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the ethos of GFU.
  • To ensure the accountability of funds donated, recipient organizations must have a verifiable online giving program and/or a be a 501c3.

Community Life Fund

Mission Statement: The Community Life Fund is designed to help enhance community on campus by providing funding for extracurricular and student-developed activities. On Campus Poster Policy

From the Employee Handbook:
2.10 Postings on Campus Bulletin Boards

Posting of material on bulletin boards requires the approval of an authorized person within the building. The name of that person should be available on each bulletin board. Posters, notices, etc. are to be posted only on bulletin boards — not on windows, doors, or walls (internal or external). Anything misposted may be removed without notice.

Exceptions are private offices and rooms and the student government portion of the Student Union Building (SUB). Exceptions also are made for temporary signs and notices on building doors regarding class or meeting cancellations, or events postponed, rescheduled, or relocated. Fliers to be posted on tables or bulletin boards in student areas, such as Bruin Den, living areas, SUB, etc. must have the approval of the Associated Student Community (ASC).
