ASC CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEETING

November 14, 2011

11.1 Opening with highs/lows & Brief Committee Reports

11.4 ROLL CALL:

·      All are present

·      Stephanie Abdulmajid will be joining us today

NEW BUSINESS

11.5 Alpha Psi Omega Proposal

·      Request: $4,000 ($200/person) to send students to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Fort Collins, CO

·      Taking place in February 2012

·      At this point, there are 20 students who want to go

·      This proposal would go through the Academic Pursuit Fund

·      Proposal Tabled

11.6 Guest Speaker- Rob Westervelt

·      Rob is the Executive Vice President from the Department of Advancement and Integrated Marketing

·      Working on job and internship placement

·      Working on connections with Alumni

·      “Need to form better relationships for the benefit of all”

11.7 Clubs/Probation- Stephanie Abdulmajid

Voting to Regain Status

11.8 Justice Conference Proposal- Liz

·      Request: $490.00 toward subsidizing student attendance ($49 of the $79 cost per student for additional 10 students) of the upcoming Justice Conference in Portland, OR.

·      This proposal is an addition to the original proposal that was passed by ASC.

·      Seven of the additional 10 people were overlooked as the original list was compiled.

·      Two students have been added who are part of a Praxis class that is going to the conference.

·      Proposal to Amend: $350 toward subsidizing student attendance of the upcoming Justice Conference in Portland, OR.

·      Call to Amend: Lauren

·      Motion Passes: 5-2-0

11.9 Constitutional Amendment 1- Kevin

·      Proposal to amend Article V, Section 3, Subsection 6 and 7 in the Constitution

·      Current Article V, Section 3, Subsection 6 and 7:

o      6. Any expenditure over two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) which has not been approved in the final itemized budget with regard to dollar amount and detail must be brought Central Committee for approval.

o      7. A miscellaneous fund shall be made to cover unbudgeted expenses, which is to be designated by the Treasurer.

·      Amendments :

o      6. Upon approval by the Central Committee the ASC Treasurer shall submit the budget to the Public Relations Director. The current enumerated budget shall be made available on the ASC website no later than 2 weeks after it has been approved.

o      7. Any expenditure over two hundred and fifty dollars ($250) which has not been approved in the final itemized budget with regard to dollar amount and detail must be brought Central Committee for approval. If approved, these expenditures shall be recorded by the Public Relations Director on the ASC website.

o      8. A miscellaneous fund shall be made to cover unbudgeted expenses, which is to be designated by the Treasurer.

·      Motion Fails: 3-4-0

·      Rationale for failing amendment: Central Committee believes that posting the budget on the website would create confusion. However, Central Committee would like to emphasize the fact that the budget is available for anyone to see by asking a Central Committee member. These members are willing to go over the budget with anyone who desires to do so, and answer any questions that one may have.

11.10 Constitutional Amendment 2- Kevin

·      Proposal to amend Article II, Section 7, Subsection 2 allow the Central Committee to adjust honorariums at any point

·      Amendment to Article II, Section 7, Subsection 2:

o      The Central Committee may approve any honorariums for positions not included during the budgeting process. The Central Committee, along with the Finance Committee, is responsible for determining where the money should be allocated for the new honorarium. The Central Committee may adjust honorariums at any point during the year, if it finds just cause. If the Central Committee approves an adjustment, the full proposal shall be included in the minutes.

DISCUSSION

Mark Pothoff- Evaluations will either be discussed with Mark or Meredith. A great gift to Krissy would be to have all of your Monthly Reports done and posted on the Wiki before Christmas Break.

Retreat- Central Committee Retreat is November 18th-19th

Future Leaders- Elections and training will be coming up fast! Stark thinking.
