Network Connection Requirements

Network Connection Requirements



The supportable minimum requirements for a computer to connect to the Internet through a George Fox University provided network connection at the FVRC are listed below.


PC Options

A Windows-based computer needs to have the following in order to reliably connect to the George Fox University supplied network at FVRC:

Operating System: Windows XP (Home, Entertainment or Professional)
CPU: 300 MHz Processor speed
RAM: 128 MB
HD: 100 MB free space
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
10 Base-T Ethernet Network Interface Card or Wireless Card (where available)


Apple Options

An Apple brand computer needs to have the following in order to reliably connect to the George Fox University supplied network at FVRC:

Operating System: OSX or 10.3 or higher
CPU: G4 or faster processor
RAM: 128 MB
HD: 100 MB free space
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
10 Base-T Ethernet Network Interface Card or Wireless Card (where available)


Wireless Connection

To connect to the network wirelessly you must have a computer with the minimum stated requirements above and have a wireless card that is capable of connection to a "G" type wireless network.

Wireless service is not available at all locations. A map showing where wireless connections exist is available at the front desk of FVRC.
