Listserv

Facts
* More than 75 addresses OK
* Non-GFU addresses OK
* Messages are delivered to inboxes (receiver can turn on filtering based on From address)
* Replies go to the whole group, as the messages are all "from" the listserv instead of "from" the sender (this can be changed)

How to create
Contact the service desk to request a listserv. Please include in the request the desired short name for the listserv (i.e. "careerservices" or "studentlife") and the name(s) of those who will have permission to control the listserv.

How to maintain
If you are the administrator of a listserv, you will receive an e-mail with instructions for accessing the listserv maintenance features. Note that your login at this site will be your FULL e-mail address.
Here are Instructions for administering listservs (PDF - requires Adobe Acrobat).

How to use
To send a message to the listserv, use the listserv name (i.e. studentlife) plus "@listserv.georgefox.edu" in the address box of any e-mail program. Depending on the configuration of the listserv, you may have to be a member in order to send - you will receive a reply stating that you are not authorized if this is the case. If the listserv is restricted to members, you will have to use your registered address to send - messages from outside accounts (i.e. Hotmail or Yahoo) will fail unless they are also registered.
Here are Instructions for using listservs (PDF - requires Adobe Acrobat).
