Integrated Communication Strategies
Integrated Communication Strategies
The communication tools listed below are tightly integrated with the university infrastructure. Most of these tools are fully supported by the I.T. Service Desk and all of them allow for numerous ways to interact in an online environment.
Some of these tools are considered "hot", media rich environments while others will suffice for quick and simple communication avenues. Supported Operating systems are listed where the offering is platform dependent.
iChat
iChat is an instant messenger jabber client that is Apple Only. It allows you to audio & visually chat with up to 3 other individuals at once. You may also share your desktop with someone else remote to you. Keep in mind that the iChat service is new and not without some problems. Keep in mind that A/V may have performance issues on a wireless connection. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
We recommend using your GFU Google Account which is just your email account and your GFU password. When you choose to add an account in iChat select the GTalk option.
