Students are the reason we exist as a university, and IT is committed to supporting the technology needs of our students no matter where you are living. Look below for information on getting to and using technology to enhance your learning at GFU.
Online Resources
- Apple Computers: Purchase Apple products from the GFU Apple Online Store. [You may need to hit refresh, as the page doesn't always load the first time.]
- Apple 4 U: A George Fox Community wiki. This wiki was put together by Andrew Griggs with tutorials to help new users to Macbooks and iPod Touches. Apple 4 U is for anyone from starters to seasoned vets, this wiki is designed to help foster a Do-It-Yourself community that allows students, faculty, and staff to help one another in their Apple Experience!
- Bruindata: Former student information system, now retired.
- Campus Network: Network information and how to get connected whether you are on one of our campuses or connecting while off-campus.
- E-mail (Bruinmail): Everything you need to know about our email system. Includes information on options for sending mass/group emails.
- E-nnouncements: Quasi daily announcements delivered straight to your inbox.
- FoxFiles: How to access your personal file storage via the Web, and more.
- FoxTALE: GFU's system for presenting course-related materials online.
- Google Apps for George Fox: Provides you with tools for sharing information and ideas with others.
- iChat Set Up: Shows you how to set up and utilize the iChat client that comes bundled with every Mac.
- iGFU: Currently the IT Administrative Computing is working on creating a mobile device friendly web portal to bring your George Fox experience to you.
- iTunesU: Access Podcasts from GFU iTunes University site.
- MyGFU (PeopleSoft): Access to class rosters, advisee lists, academic advisement reports, and grade submission.
- Virus Help: Gives information on how to determine whether you have a virus and what to do about it. Has download available of Norton Antivirus (for those currently enrolled/employed at GFU) and a few other virus prevention programs.
- Wireless Student Printing - A wireless printing system for students.
Campus Resources
- Computer Labs: George Fox has several different computer labs for both students and faculty to increase their knowledge of and access to the computers that they need to complete projects, work, or just checking your email depending on which lab you are in.
- Computers Across Curriculum (CAC): Information on the current CAC Program and recent laptops still used at GFU.
- IT Service Desk: The service desk is here to serve the George Fox community by answering technical questions, troubleshooting computer problems, and repairing problematic systems.
Software
- Downloadable Software: A list of links (both local and on the Internet) to current software in use at GFU. Note: Some local links require a GFU login - use your MyGFU username and password when prompted.
From IT
- Computer Support and Repair: Information on computer support and repair services provided by the IT Service Desk.
- IT Policies: By using our services, including email and the network connections, you agree to abide to certain policies. Read about them here.
- Student Workstudy Employment: Do you qualify for Federal Workstudy? Do you like working with people? If the answer to those is "Yes!" you should consider working for the IT Service Desk. Student Employment Applications can be found at Human Resources webpage.
