Where is my student mailbox, and how long will I have it?
Boxes numbered 4001-5160 are located in the lower level of the Beebe Residence Hall. Boxes numbered 5161-5990 are located in the SUB by the bookstore. You are assigned a mailbox when you first enroll at George Fox and you keep the same box assignment for each consecutive semester you are enrolled.
What happens to my mail if I study off campus or take a leave of absence?
Your U.S. Mail will be forwarded and campus mail will be returned to the sending department. Returned class papers will be saved for your return.
What happens to my mail during the summer?
If you decide to keep your box open all summer, your mail will continue to go to your box. However, if you close your box for the summer, your U.S. Mail will be forwarded to the address you provided to Mail Services and campus mail will be returned to the sending department. Class papers for returning students will be saved for your return. Class papers for others will be saved at Mail Services for 6 months.
When does my mail get put in my mailbox?
Mail is sorted and distributed throughout the day Monday through Friday.
What happens if I receive an item of mail too large for my mailbox, or if the item requires a signature?
When students receive an item of mail requiring a signature, University Mail Services acts as the agent. Items too large to fit into a mailbox are written up as packages. An e-mail will be sent to the student's GFU email address for both of these examples. The student must bring a photo ID to the University Mail Center to claim the item of mail and sign for it.
How long is my mail forwarded after I graduate or leave school?
According to USPS regulations, we forward First Class mail for one year. You must contact your magazine suppliers with your new address.
What do I do if I lose my mail box key?
Come to Mail Services. A clerk will have you fill out a form giving you two weeks to find your key. In the meantime, your mail can be held in Mail Services for you to pick up. If the key can't be found, you must pay $10.00 (cash or check) or charge $15.00 to your student account. If Mail Services has not heard from you by the end of the 2 week period, your account will automatically be charged $15.00. You will be notified when your replacement key is available.
How does someone send a package to me?
Give your friends and family your address format as listed on the main University Mailing Address Page. Be sure to have the sender include your name and box number in the address to avoid delays. We receive mail and packages from all shipping carriers.
Can I have a friend pick up my package for me?
Yes, you can. But you must send Linda Sartwell email@example.com an email saying you grant permission for the name of your friend to pick up the package. Be sure to include the name of your friend in the email.
