Looking for a career where you can help others? Want to make a difference in people's lives as a professional counselor? The George Fox School of Education's Graduate Department of Counseling is dedicated to preparing mental health professionals for service and leadership in private and community settings, as well as private and public schools by developing professional competence and character within a framework of Christian faith and values.
Our Mission
From its beginning, George Fox University has been committed to an integration of Christian faith, learning, and living, and to providing an academic experience that achieves intellectual and personal growth while promoting responsibility for world concerns.
The Graduate Department of Counseling, grounded in and shaped by our commitment to an integrated understanding of the Christian faith and mental health, exists to train graduate-level clinicians. Through rigorous academic and clinical training we seek to promote the personal and professional development of students, with the goal of promoting relational, psychological, physical and spiritual wholeness of individuals, couples, families, organizations and communities. The conceptual framework of each program is based upon theory and research that supports a developmental, systemic approach to facilitate the growth and well-being of clients.
We are also the home of the Northwest Center for Play Therapy Studies, the only university-based center focused on the study and promotion of play therapy in the northwest United States.
