Fitness Center Hours

Wheeler Fitness Center is a membership gym. A George Fox I.D. is required.

School Year Hours
Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday: 1-7 p.m.

Summer Hours
Monday-Friday: 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. (closed Memorial Day and July 4)
Saturday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Sunday: Closed

Academic classes are held in the Fitness Center on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Usage during that time is at the discretion of the professor.


Membership is for alumni and family members of employees. Membership will last for one year. One month prior to the membership being deactivated we will notify you and you can reactivate your membership online by completing this form. If you misplace an ID card, you will need to pay $10 and go to the IT service desk to get a new card. Call the alumni relations office at 503-554-2134 with any questions.

Single Membership: $125
Family Membership: $250   

Fitness Center Rules

  • Admittance to Wheeler Fitness Center requires a current George Fox University ID.
  • Wear proper attire. This includes athletic shorts/pants, shirts, and closed-toed shoes.
  • Unload weights and return equipment to its proper place after use.
  • Disinfect and wipe equipment after use.
  • Return towels to the dirty towel bin after use.
  • Use equipment properly. Ask the Fitness Center staff if you are unsure.
  • Report injuries and equipment failure to the Fitness Center staff.
  • Roughhousing, unsafe behavior, and vulgarity are not allowed.
  • Personal music is allowed only with the use of headphones.
  • Food is prohibited.

Free Weights Guidelines

  • Do not drop the weights.
  • Bumper plates may only be dropped on platforms with control. Even the bumper plates and platforms are not meant to sustain excessive beatings. Control your weights to the ground as much as possible.
  • Metal plates or equipment that can scratch the wood surface on the platforms are not allowed.
  • Unload weights and return equipment to its proper place after use.
  • Always use a spotter and/or safety bars.
