Centennial Tower

Location

  • Center of the quad

Located in the center of the campus quadrangle (“the quad”), the Centennial Tower was built in 1991 to commemorate our 100th year. Designed by world-renowned architect Pietro Belluschi, it stands 65 feet tall and chimes on the quarter-hour during daytime hours (students are appreciative it doesn’t chime on Saturday mornings).

The tower features a carillon that plays songs, including Christmas carols in December, and it’s where you’ll find the institution's original 200-pound cast iron bell that called the first college students to classes in 1891. A visual representation of George Fox, it is showcased in the university’s logo.
