George Fox University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is a three-year professional program that prepares students for careers in improving health and performance. Our program prepares students for licensure and helps launch them into the contemporary physical therapy field.

George Fox is one of two physical therapy schools in Oregon and one of the only Christian physical therapy schools in the Pacific Northwest. Our faculty in the DPT program are experts in various fields such as sports medicine, orthopedics, and neuroscience. Their goals as instructors are to help students grow in knowledge and abilities as well as to provide each student with one-on-one guidance and hands-on training in our on-campus clinic that serves the local community.

Curriculum & Technology Innovation

The George Fox DPT program focuses on current technological innovations in the physical therapy field, helping prepare students for the rapidly changing environment of healthcare. The program curriculum emphasizes a problem-solving and evidence-based approach to learning to respond to this challenge. Curriculum includes the foundational sciences, research, behavioral sciences, clinical sciences, and clinical education.

Career Opportunities

Physical therapy is a growing career field due in large part to advances in medical technology that have allowed doctors to save and treat more people who will go on to need physical therapy after or in coordination with their primary medical care. The annual mean wage for physical therapists is higher than the national average and is expected to increase as demand for physical therapists increase.

Clinical Training

A significant part of the DPT program at George Fox is the integration of clinical training. Throughout the program students will receive hands-on clinical training through a variety of settings such as private practice, hospital acute care, orthopedics, and pediatric and rehabilitation facilities. Students should be prepared to take internships in and around the Portland area during the clinical education portion of the program.
