Irv BrendlingerProfessor of Religion Telephone: 503-554-2652 E-mail: ibrendlinger@georgefox.edu Classes Irv is Currently Teaching Specialities: Pastoral Counseling, Church History Irv is professor of Church History and Theology at George Fox University, where he has taught since 1993. Before joining the faculty at George Fox, he taught at Western Evangelical Seminary and Warner Pacific College. Prior to teaching, he served in pastoral ministry in Oklahoma City. He holds the M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary, the M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Oklahoma and the Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, where his study of historical theology focused on John Wesley and the problem of slavery. He has authored two books, To Be Silent ... Would Be Criminal, the Antislavery Influence and Writings of Anthony Benezet, and Social Justice Through the Eyes of Wesley. The Wesley Book was written while he served as Visiting Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. Irv and his wife, Shirley, live in Portland and are the parents of two adult children, Carol Joy and David. He enjoys the beauty of the Northwest for cycling and skiing. |
