We are pleased to offer the George Fox University Art and Design Scholarship to highly motivated students who are gifted in art and design.

We seek applicants who will develop into professionals of strong character, maturity, and Christian commitment, with a vision to provide leadership in design endeavors in the world at large. Scholarships will be granted according to the following criteria:

• Demonstration of ability
• Academic performance and potential for success
• Stewardship of talent in service to Christ and community

Items to Submit Prior to Scholarship Competition

• Two letters of recommendation addressed to the Art and Design Scholarship Committee written by:
  • A high school teacher or professional in the same area of your scholarship interest
  • A non-family member familiar with your character and leadership potential
• A current photograph of yourself
• A brief essay addressing each of the following questions: (word-processed)

  In the design program, our mission at George Fox University is to prepare technically competent and broadly educated designers for a life of responsible stewardship emerging from a Christian worldview.

  As a student in the George Fox University design program, describe in 1200 words or less how you intend to: (1) accomplish this mission personally, and (2) provide strong, ongoing leadership to your peers in the fulfillment of this mission. (3) Use examples from your past leadership responsibilities, work or volunteer experiences, club memberships, extracurricular activities, or anything that you feel is important.

• Portfolio, submitted in digital format (please save files in .jpg format on a CD). Printouts of digital work are also recommended and should be sent with this package. The portfolio should consist of seven to ten pieces of artwork that represent your best and most representative work to date, for potential review by the Scholarship Committee.

All artwork will be judged on the basis of digital images on a CD. Each image must be labeled with the artist’s name, title of artwork, medium, and size (height and width). Digital portfolios should be sent on a CD with a case or protective covering with applicant’s name clearly written on both cover and CD. Printouts of digital work should also be sent with the application. It is okay to bring your portfolio along to the interview, but a CD MUST be mailed ahead of time.
