The history competition will consist of a historical reenactment designed to test:

About a week before the competition, participants will receive a packet including background information on the chosen scenario, instructions for participation in the scenario, a role assignment and guidelines, and documents necessary to prepare for the assigned role.

Participants should come prepared to actively participate, demonstrating their understanding of the issues, and able to argue a position consistent with their assigned role. Use of note cards to support speeches is acceptable, but reading speeches verbatim is discouraged.

To help recreate the historical environment, participants are encouraged to bring an appropriate personal prop such as a hat, cane, or some article of clothing. Full costumes are not expected or required. This activity is based on Reacting to the Past pedagogy. You can find more information about this format here.
