University Day of Prayer

Seasons Greetings Extended George Fox Family! My name is Nanette LoVerde, I have been a proud George Fox parent for eight years now, and am currently serving on the Parent Council. I have a daughter who completed her undergraduate degree, Master’s Degree and is currently working on her Doctorate here at Fox. I also have a son who is in his junior year in his undergrad program.

For several years, George Fox has hosted a Parents Day of Prayer. It is a day to focus on communication with our wonderful maker, and to remember the gift of talking with Him and hearing His still small voice. I have had the great privilege of being a part of this day for the past seven years, and every year it has blessed me more than I can even say. Nothing brings me more gratification than knowing that I am covering my children, their surroundings and influencing environments in prayer.

This year we are opening up the day of prayer to be a University Day of Prayer. Over the years we have brought forth a wide array of prayers, from praise, to supplication, for provision and safety, to prayers of comfort and mourning. A day like this allows us to focus our eyes on Christ in times of need, both great and small. We have the opportunity to lay our burdens down, and hear what God is doing in and through the lives of our students and staff alike.

University Day of Prayer reinforces the unity we have, as an extended family, in Christ, and reminds us—the greater George Fox community—of the value and significance of prayer. Prayer is how we talk to God; it’s one half of a heavenly conversation between God and His people. Will you join us in the divine privilege of partaking in our side of an ongoing conversation with God this year?

There are a few ways you can participate in the Day of Prayer: (1) You can gather with other George Fox friends and family in your area or, (2) You can join the Newberg campus in prayer or, (3) you can have the materials sent to you directly for personal prayer in your own home or business.
