George Fox University has state-of-the-art scientific equipment many Elementary, Junior and High Schools do not. The GFU Science Outreach Program started the Interschool Equipment Loan Program to reach out to the community and support these schools. This program is also available to the homeschooling community. If you need microscopes, dissecting equipment, physics models, or a variety of other vital teaching tools, we can loan them to you and enrich the scientific learning taking place in your classroom.
Also, sometimes an elementary teacher or home-school parent can have ‘science-apprehension’ or they just get ‘stuck in a scientific rut.’ Professors at George Fox can help! Contact Amy Ocker or Dwight Kimberly to brainstorm ideas. Our goal is to encourage and empower teachers to become dynamic scientists so that the wonder of God’s creation is more effectively taught to the scientists of tomorrow!
Loan Process
Equipment is loaned out on a first come, first served basis for up to one week (seven days), unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Equipment must be requested at least 24 hours in advance of when needed, although more time may be needed depending on availability and scheduling. There may be fees for consumable items.
If equipment and/or supplies are lost, or damaged upon return, the borrower must reimburse GFU in the amount of the replacement cost. Items must be returned in the same or better condition as when they were checked out. GFU reserves the right to charge for time spent cleaning and/or organizing returned items if needed.
